SkyEurope rewrites its history on Wikipedia
Once again, low cost companies are not keeping a low proile and have got people talking! Today, it’s SkyEurope’s turn to be in the spotlight. I was reading the company’s Wikipedia page to check if it had been updated since the Vienna Airport affair and I discovered some strange things… Actually it was funny to notice that SkyEurope deleted important information on its French Wikipedia page. (Wikipedia http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/SkyEurope_Airlines )
SkyEurope deleted a paragraph about the fact that the airline announced it has been granted creditor protection while it restructures its debts:
“Since its creation in 2001, SkyEurope has accumulated debt of more than 100M€ and has never made a profit. The company had reduced its fleet from two third in the winter of 2008 and currently operates six aircrafts. Following the restructuring of SkyEurope, Jason Bitter its Chief Operating Officer resigned in July 2009, handing over the reigns to Nick Manoudakis.”
This information was deleted August 14th. When I checked the History tab, I found out that the IP address (85.248.11.67) from where the text was changed comes from Slovakia, or more precisely Bratislava, none other than the SkyEurope headquarters!!!!! but an internet user re released the information afterall.

Apparently this is not the first time they’ve deleted information, another paragraph was deleted August 4th, and the IP address is also from Bratislava, Slovakia! (IP 195.91.56.91.)
Recently, I also had the surprise to see on my blog some Flybe employees go undercover to answer back to one of my posts. Twice they signed with different names, but the IP address was similar and ended up coming from Flybe headquarters in the UK.
More seriously, it’s a pity for the Internet community to know that low cost companies try and manipulate people. SkyEurope tries to delete sourced and accurate information while Flybe tries to pretend to be a normal Internet user when it answers to my post.
Low cost airlines usually have very aggressive communication tactics but when it comes to the point where they try to manipulate consumers, then it’s gone too far.
All this just to remind every one out there of this fact. We can just hope that they’ll change their practices. For that, we need to let our voice be heard and make them realise that we’ve unconvered their slimy and shady ways of which we don’t approve. I’ve done my bit of the job, it’s up to you to carry it one and let your voice and opinion be heard!
SkyEurope is dead. Just a matter of time. Rewriting the history won’t save them! They don’t know airlines business (said Niki Lauda). So they’ll disapear, and Wizzair will be there to carry passengers!
“Eastern European budget carrier continues to grow in confidence and ambitions as its rivals falter. Wizz Air might not have declared “checkmate” with its decision to move into Bratislava, base of troubled rival SkyEurope Airlines, but there is an increasing senseit marks an endgame over the battle to dominate the East European budget sector”

If SkyEurope and Flybe did that, it means that Ryanair or easyJet are probably using the same tactics. It’s disgusting and I’ll talk everywhere I go about their methods
